Bases vs Supplements

Before jumping into the main topic of this article – Advanced Nutrients grow charts – let’s first brush up on our knowledge about the difference between base nutrients and supplements. 

Bases provide the essential components as building blocks for strong and healthy plant development. 

Meanwhile, supplements help you focus on the aspects of your grow you want to improve. They allow you to get a specific result, whether to heal a plant, increase root mass, avoid deficiencies, maximize yields, improve disease resistance, and others. 

Advanced Nutrients Base Nutrients

Advanced Nutrients has a list of base fertilizers to choose from. They have organic bases as well as mineral bases that use the pH Perfect technology and have versions for hydroponics, soil or coco coir. 

pH Perfect bases for hydroponics and soil:

Advanced Nutrients Additives

As you will notice, no matter which Advanced Nutrients pH Perfect base nutrient you have decided to use, the Advanced Nutrients additives and boosters to choose from in their official grow charts are the same. 

Here is a short guide on how to choose which Advanced Nutrients supplements to use in the growing and blooming stages. 

How to Use Advanced Nutrients Supplements During The Vegetative Stage?

In the growing stage, Advanced Nutrients recommends you to use B-52 at a maximum of 2 ml per 1 litre of water to increase root mass and nutrient uptake. You are also advised to add Voodoo Juice in the first two weeks of growth at a maximum of 2 ml per 1 litre of water to stimulate root growth and beneficial bacteria. 

How to Use Advanced Nutrients Supplements For The Flowering Stage?

In the blooming stage, there are 13 Advanced Nutrients additives you can add to your feeding schedule, according to your plants’ needs and desired outcome. 

Based on their many years of research and customer feedback, Advanced Nutrients has decided to categorize their supplements depending on a grower’s experience. As a result, they have four “levels” of additives and boosters recommended for hobbyists, experienced professionals, and master growers. 

Take a look at the list below to see what works best for you. 

Suppose you are a hobbyist grower (or you currently do not wish to invest much in additives). In that case, the four supplements Advanced Nutrients recommends using are – Voodoo Juice, Big Bud, B-52 and Overdrive. 

• Voodoo Juice – Advanced Nutrients’ flagship root mass expander that increases yield by drastically increasing root mass. 
• Big Bud – a liquid PK booster fertiliser that gives you bigger, more potent flowers with the right amounts of phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, L-amino acids, ascorbic acid, and citric acid.
• B–52 – a B-vitamin formula that will boost crops’ metabolic and immune systems while promoting growth with increased amino acid synthesis and enzymatic activity. 
• Overdrive – extends the late blooming and ripening stage so that your crops will get as much mass into the fruits as possible.

More experienced growers are advised to use Voodoo Juice, Big Bud, B-52 and Overdrive and can choose to also add Piranha, Bud Candy and Flawless Finish. 

• Piranha – a premium proprietary blend of beneficial mycorrhizal fungi that helps expand plant roots and maintain a healthy, balanced root zone. 
• Bud Candy – a natural carbohydrate flower booster that will enhance the flavour and aroma of crops while also nourishing beneficial microbes.
• Flawless Finish – flushing is recommended if you would want to cleanse your crops from unnecessary and toxic elements before harvest. Flashing with Flawless Finish will minimize the amount of residual nutrients the plant has collected over the grow and will give you a cleaner, safer, higher-quality crop. 

Pro growers use all of the above and may also add Tarantula, Nirvana and Sensizym to their feeding schedules. 

• Tarantula – a proprietary blend of beneficial rhizobacteria that increases root mass, secondary or lateral buds, improves nutrient uptake and protects the root zone.
• Nirvana – an all-natural flower booster that stimulates and sustains an increased metabolic rate in plants. 
• Sensizym – fuels growth, boosts yields, and increases terpene production by turning organic waste and other debris in the root zone into usable carbohydrates.

Master growers will often use all of the above plus Bud Ignitor, Rhino Skin and Bud Factor X. 

• Bud Ignitor – will trigger earlier onset of flowering. Plants will produce more flowers per inch of stem. 
• Rhino Skin – a potassium silicate formula that acts as an armour for plants, protecting them from stress, heat and disease while increasing trichomes and potency.
• Bud Factor X – to maximize the production of essential oils, resins and terpenoids. 

All of the Advanced Nutrients additives have a maximum mixing ratio of 2 ml per 1 Litre of water. But we encourage you to test and adjust these ratios depending on how your plants react.

The pH Perfect Sensi Grow A&B Feeding Chart – Vegetative Stage

Your base nutrients are – pH Perfect Sensi Grow A and Sensi Grow B.

In the first week of the veg stage, begin with small quantities – first, add a maximum of 1 ml per 1 Litre of water from the A bottle and mix well. Then add a maximum of 1 ml per 1 Litre of water to the B bottle. Slowly increase the dosage to 4 ml per 1 Litre of water by the end of the vegetative stage. 

Reminder: Do not mix the A and B bottles at the same time (or as concentrates). First, add the Sensi Grow A to your water and mix well, then add the Sensi Grow B bottle and mix well. 

According to the feeding chart above, use B-52 and Voodoo Juice at a maximum of 2 ml per 1 Litre of water. 

The pH Perfect Sensi Grow A&B Feeding Chart – Flowering Stage

Your base nutrients for the blooming stage are – pH Perfect Sensi Bloom A and Sensi Bloom B. 

Once again, do not mix the A & B bottles at the same time (or as concentrates). First, add a maximum of 4 ml per 1 Litre of water of the Sensi Bloom A bottle to your water and mix well. Next, add a maximum of 4 ml per 1 Litre of water of the Sensi Bloom B and mix well.

Remember to not mix the bottles at the same time (or as concentrates). First, begin with adding a maximum of 4 ml per 1 Litre of water of pH Perfect Micro to the water and mix it well. Then add a maximum of 4 ml per 1 Litre of water of pH Perfect Grow mix again. And lastly, add a maximum of 4 ml per 1 Litre of water of pH Perfect Bloom.

Advanced Nutrients Feed Chart for Iguana Juice Grow & Bloom

Last but not least, below are the Advanced Nutrients feeding schedules for the Organic Iguana Juice Grow and Iguana Juice Bloom.

The OG Organics^™ Iguana Juice^® Grow Feeding Chart – Vegetative Stage

If you are growing organically, your base nutrient for the vegetative stage is Iguana Juice Grow. 

Begin with a maximum of 1 ml per 1 Litre of water and then slowly increase the dosage to a maximum of 4 ml per 1 Litre of water by the end of the veg stage.

The recommended Advanced Nutrients organic supplements for the vegetative stage are Ancient Earth Organic and Sensizym Organic, which should be applied at a maximum of 2 ml per 1 Litre of water throughout the full vegetative phase. 

Add Ancient Earth to increase the nutrient uptake and reduce the effects of pH fluctuations and salinity. And Sensizym Organic will boost yields, fuel growth, increase terpene production, prevent root rot and kill harmful fungi and insects.

The OG Organics^™ Iguana Juice^® Bloom Feeding Chart – Flowering Stage

Your organic base nutrient for the flowering stage is Iguana Juice Bloom. 

Use it at a maximum of 4 ml per 1 Litre of water during the whole blooming phase.

Continue to apply Ancient Earth and Sensizym Organic at a maximum of 2 ml per 1 Litre of water throughout the blooming stage. 

The other Advanced Nutrients organic supplements you are advised to add in the flowering stage are Big Bud Organic, Mother Earth and Bud Candy Organic. 

Big Bud Organic is the organic bloom booster that needs to be applied for three weeks at a maximum of 2 ml per 1 Litre of water. And Mother Earth is the organic super tea blend that will help maximize growth and yields and give an organic taste to the plants. Bud Candy Organic and Mother Earth are applied at a maximum of 2 ml per 1 Litre of water throughout the full blooming phase.

Step 1: Open the Online Advanced Nutrients Calculator.

Visit this page to open the Nutrients Calculator in your browser https://www.advancednutrients.com/nutrient-calculator/

Step 2: Select your preferred metric system.

Click on the drop-down menu under “What Measurement” to choose the metric system you are comfortable with.

In this example, we will be selecting “Metric – Liters”. 

Step 3: Enter the size of your reservoir/container. 

If you are growing with a hydroponics system – enter the size of your reservoir in the measurement unit you have selected in step 2. 
If you are growing in soil – enter the size of the container/bucket you will use to water your plants. Use the measurement unit you have selected in step 2.

In our example, we have entered “50″ Liters as our reservoir size. You should not write “Liters” in the field, just the number. 

Step 4: Select your base nutrient. 

Click on the drop-down menu under the title “Nutrient Base” and select the base nutrients you will be using.

You will need to create different calculations for your Grow and Bloom base nutrients. 

In our example, we will select “Sensi Grow” as our veg phase base nutrients and “Sensi Bloom” for our bloom phase base nutrients. 

Step 5: Choose your experience level. 

If you have selected a veg phase base nutrient in step 4, there is only one option in the drop-down menu titled “Grower Level”.

If you have selected a bloom phase base nutrient in step 4, you will see four options in the drop-down menu titled “Grower Level”.

Depending on which grower level you choose in this step, the Advanced Nutrients Calculator will show you a different set of supplements to use alongside your selected base nutrients. Nevertheless, we advise you always to select the “Grand Master Grower Level” option when you create a bloom phase Advanced Nutrients feed chart. That way, you will see all the different additives and boosters you can choose to use in your grow. 

Important: Based on the experience level you select, you are advised to use all of the products which appear on your screen, not only the products listed under the title with your level. This means that if you have selected the “Grand Master Grower Level”, you are supposed to use the nutrients that also apply to the “Hobbyist Level”, “Expert Grower Level”, and “Professional Grower Level”. 

In our example, we will select the “Grand Master Grower Level” for the blooming stage. 

Step 6: Extend or shorten your veg and bloom grow cycles. 

The default number of weeks in the Advanced Nutrients calculator for the vegetative stage are 4 weeks, and for the flowering stage, there are 7 weeks (including one week at the end of the bloom stage, which is for flushing). 

Depending on the plants and specific strains you are growing, you might want to add or remove a week. This you can do by clicking on the “Add Week” or “Remove Week” buttons:

In our example, we will not be extending or shortening the veg and bloom grow phases. 

Step 7: Download and print your Advanced Nutrients calculator feeding schedule. 

Once you are done with customizing your Advanced Nutrients grow chart, you can go ahead and press the “Print my feed chart” button (or simply screenshot it).

When you press the button, you will see the option to download your feeding chart as a .pdf file and print it at your convenience. 

Here is what our example feeding chart for Sensi Bloom look looks like after we downloaded it:

We can use the last column in the chart, “Total”, to figure out the amount of nutrients we will need to purchase and feed our plants during the blooming phase.
